What’s This All About?

Once upon a time, there was a little, oddly-shaped hermit girl who lived in a small, hippie-inspired apartment in a big city far, far away from home.  She had opinions on lots of things and felt like dedicating her life to a cause greater than herself.  Without being able to go outside for fear of the stupidity of society,  and with nothing to contribute to the world but her loudmouthed mockery, she made a pact with herself to reignite her blog and to post every single day in 2011.   And in a true display of creativity and wit, she named it The Jackie Blog.

Check out the introduction of its rebirth here.

After successfully writing a post every day  and gaining a surprising and lovely following, Jackie trudged onward in her quest to maintain her blog forevermore, vowing to post every Wednesday and perhaps even jaunt about for a Lollipop Tuesday or two, while challenging herself to more 365 Challenges. For 2013, she’s launched Project Fat Ass 365, wherein she pledged to exercise every day for at least 20 minutes on a quest to transform from gelatinous couch-bound goo pile to hard bodied hottie.

If you don’t know what a Lollipop Tuesday is, you should probably check out the other tab at the top of this page, aptly labeled, “What’s Lollipop Tuesday?”

or you can just click here

Welcome to the gooey insides of my brain.  Stay a while.  It’s warm.

You are funny!!! Thanks for dropping by “Honey.”

You are absolutely hilarious!!! I don’t know what you’re majoring in, but you should be a comedy writer full-time!! And BTW, I used to refer to my ex-boyfriend’s dog as Mr. Bojangles, along with Arthur Murray (when his nails hit the floor, he also posed as a tap dancer part time.)!! http://www.gustatori.com

    • Jackie May 22, 2013 at 11:39 pm #

Well that was a lovely compliment – thanks. By the way, your blog just made me super hungry.

Hi Jackie! I’ve just nominated you for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award ’cause I think your blog’s great! Here’s the link to give you some more info: http://clairebear2013.wordpress.com/2013/03/26/sisterhood-of-the-world-bloggers-award/

    • Jackie April 3, 2013 at 12:05 pm #

Claire, I’m so stoked and humbled to be nominated – thank you! I should note, however, that I’ve ranted about blogger chain awards in the past and as a result am bound to only reply in the comments with a thank you, the terms of the award, and a link to why I can’t pass it on or I’m a hypocrite. That being said, super stoked and the answers to the questions are below. Thanks so much for the nod! (http://thejackieblog.com/2011/10/03/how-do-you-feel-about-blogger-chain-awards/)

1.Who is a woman from history that you respect?

Am I allowed to choose Carol Burnett? :)

      2. Do you like your handwriting?

Absolutely not. I write like a drunk 10 year old.

      3. What book are you reading right now?

I’m supposed to be reading Bossypants by Tina Fey because my friend has commanded me to but I haven’t started yet. I’m reading textbooks for school. Woot.

      4. Are you ticklish?

      Yes.

      5. What have been your favourite methods of transport?

      Any World of Warcraft mount.

      6. What is your favourite breakfast?

My mom makes a deliciously beautiful Bubble Cake recipe every holiday morning and it’s the best.

      7. Do you ever sing in the shower?

If no one is home I do an entire album of Jackie medleys.

      8. Are you wearing socks right now?

No. Socks are for when I mean business.

      9. If you could be given any gift, what would it be?

A shopping spree at Urban Outfitters. Or an all-inclusive day spa trip.

      10. When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass it?

      Watching Netflix, eating something delightful.

      • clairebear2013 April 5, 2013 at 4:04 am #

Ranting is always fun Jackie, so I’ll let you away with it :P Cheers for the fun answers (I’m now wondering how a drunk 10 year old would write!) And thanks again for your wonderful blog!

        Thanks for reading! :)

It’s cold, dark and lonely inside my brain. Maybe your warm one will rub off on it!

    • Jackie March 13, 2013 at 9:59 pm #

      That sounds kind of dirty.

      • VivBlogs March 13, 2013 at 10:11 pm #

I know. I kinda thought that when I wrote it, too.

  7. hopewrites March 10, 2013 at 10:17 pm #

Oh man, new blogspiration. I hope one day to have my wit and hilarity come across as well as yours! I’m new to this “blog” thing, but you seem to be doing what I’d like to be doing! Hoorah! Keep up the loud-mouthedness, it’s good for the soul.

    • Jackie March 13, 2013 at 10:01 pm #

Well that’s mighty nice of you to say. Thanks for stopping by! :)

  8. meinventing October 12, 2012 at 12:28 pm #

Funny, clever, and down right entertaining, comes to my mind when I read your blog. I recently nominated your blog for the ONE LOVELY BLOG AWARD.

    • Jackie November 21, 2012 at 3:32 pm #

Why thank you! I’m quite flattered and have posted about my mixed feelings about blog chain awards here: http://thejackieblog.com/2011/10/03/how-do-you-feel-about-blogger-chain-awards . I’m happy to share seven things about myself in case it keeps you up at night not having them.

      1) I have a natural blonde streak down the back of my hair.
      2) I knocked my front teeth so many times when I was young that they turned black and had to be removed. I like to run into things face first.
      3) I weighted 11.5 pounds when I was born.
      4) I have moved more than 15 times.
      5) I made my first banana bread today (that’s fresh off the presses).
      6) I used to have to fit people in bras for money.
      7) My D&D character’s name is Cattabrie.

Thanks for the award and for reading :)

I love the idea of a blog rebirth. I haven’t read much yet, but your intro is intriguing. You’re right, the world has plenty of people crying, which is OK, but who’s going to help it be reborn?

    • Jackie November 21, 2011 at 11:36 pm #

You and I; we’ll go it alone. You in?

Welcome – thanks so much for stopping by.

You have a great blog, and an excellent wit, I’m glad you were Freshly Pressed so I could “discover” you (like a Starbucks in NYC). I must ask, what is in that peculiar banner of yours?

    • Jackie August 16, 2011 at 7:33 pm #

Thanks, thanks, and thanks! So glad to have you here.

As for the banner – I needed something kind of silly that didn’t look too homemade so I flipped through some pics of a photographer friend of mine and cropped this. I’ve been told it’s a stuffed animal character from the tv cartoon “Yo Gabba Gabba”. Google search confirms this is true.

I’ve actually commissioned a graphic artist to design me an upgrade – something more tuned to my blog and much, much brighter. I can’t wait until it’s ready!
